Our amazing safari continued the next morning, and it started off with a pair of lions greeting us on the road. We knew there were no guarantees, and assumed we wouldn’t necessarily see these magnificent beasts, but luckily for us we did.

There were a pair of males, but before I managed to get the camera ready one had already loped off into the grass. It was somewhat frightening how quickly he disappeared! This guy right here decided to take a rest right at the edge of the road, so all of us had plenty of time to take plenty of pictures.

We saw so many elephants. I will never get tired of watching them. Most that we saw were eating, and a few were on the move.

The giraffes move so gracefully.

We were really far away from the rhino, so my apologies for the poor photo. We were ecstatic to have the good fortune to see it. As you may know, they are targeted heavily by poachers, and the tour guides use code to speak to each other about it’s whereabouts. We viewed it for about 5 minutes before it lumbered off over the rise, and out of view.

Fortune REALLY smiled upon us with three unique leopard sightings:

This was during the heat of the day, so the leopards weren’t in the hunting mood, which was a shame. There were warthogs nearby during two of the sightings, and we thought we might get to see a chase.

A stop by the Krokodilrivier delivered just as it’s name would suggest.

We returned to our hotel for the evening after an incredible day. After the 13 hour tour bus fiasco, the two of us decided to fly back to Johannesburg instead of taking the tour bus again. We had a lovely time at Kruger National Park and highly recommend it if you decide to come to South Africa.
On to Cape Town!
