Our time seemed to be flying by so rapidly on this trip. We woke after an evening strolling on the beach to the sounds of surf, and after breakfast we went out on the beach to enjoy the warmth of the water. You definitely need to be cautious of the rip currents at Jaco Beach- there is a LOT of current on days when the waves are good.

We cleaned up and checked out, in anticipation of our next stay at the Hotel Pumilio, but first we had an appointment with the zip line tour. It was my first time, but Kelly has done it before and looked like a pro.

We went with Chiclets Tours, and as fortune would have it we were the only 2 people on the tour again!

We met up at a restaurant at the base of the hill, geared up, and headed up into the jungle in a van. Once dropped off, our two guides took us on a short hike to the best classroom ever, where they educated us on how to operate the brake (a leather glove), how to get the rest of the way if you didn’t quite make it (hand over hand), and how to enjoy the views, which were incredible. We crossed a suspention bridge and were finally zipping through the canopy.

Along the way, our guides pointed out interesting features about the jungle and were generally just super companionable and entertaining.
Afterwards, we headed about 10 minutes out of town and a little ways up the hill to our next hotel, The Hotel Pumilio has very lovely, comfortable rooms. We booked a suite, and it had an incredible glass shower with doors on both sides, so you could have an outdoor shower if you pleased. We also had our own hot tub, private patio, and tiny kitchenette. And the pool…

Was nothing short of spectacular. The vibrancy of the colors and the contrast between blue and green was simply amazing. The water spills over the infinity edge and into a smaller, much shallower pool below, which had a little slide and was perfect for kids. We took a dip to refresh ourselves, and headed into Jaco for dinner and an evening of people watching. There were a couple of dance clubs open, but they closed at 10 on the dot due to covid restrictions, and so we were treated to the spectacle of all the people pouring out of them all at the same time. After, we enjoyed some time in our private tub with champagne and laughter, and drifted off to sleep. Tomorrow was our return to San Jose.
