Have you ever had that moment when you realize that life has become too ordinary without your taking notice, and all of a sudden you look around saying, to borrow from the great Talking Heads: “My God, how did I get here?!”
When we first started dating a year ago, we were becoming increasingly aware of those moments. As we started to talk more, we found a shared value in living with a commitment to the biggest, fullest, most intentional lives possible. Over the past year, we’ve put that commitment into practice in a big way, under some extremely challenging circumstances (thanks, COVID), and it’s brought us more joy than we ever thought possible.
But why call it “glamour?” To us, glamour is the art of making every day a celebration of life. It’s adding a dash of sparkle to elevate the ordinary, from getting up early for a champagne breakfast on a Tuesday to rhinestones on a COVID face mask. It’s the excitement we get from discovering the new, the beautiful, and the extraordinary, and the pleasure to be had from deliberately seeking out the beauty in the familiar and the ordinary. It’s the romance of foreign travel and candlelit dinners and evenings at the opera, but it’s also about getting dressed up and making a date out of going to Target. It’s the joy that comes from sprinkling the world with glitter, both literally and figuratively, in ways both large and small.
This blog is the brainchild of our shared experience. Our quest to add some glamour has made us incredibly happy, and we want to share that happiness with others. We want to bring you along with us on our adventures in the world, whatever is possible now and whatever will be possible when the world gets back to normal again. We hope to inspire you to add glamour to your own your life, and we hope you’ll inspire us with stories of your own glamorous adventures.
Above all, this blog is a reminder to ourselves to always, always, add some glamour to keep the ordinary at bay.
Oh my gosh…I absolutely ❤️ this! THIS is what LIFE is about! You both look so insanely happy. I can’t wait to see you KB and catch up and I look forward to meeting you, Brendan!
